A month away from step 3 and Aya hasn't done crap...ok...I've done
some crap but that crap isn't enough to get me a passing score. I am finding it exceedingly difficult to get down to some serious studying. The start of this week was to officially be the start of some "No-monkeying-around-serious-studying" time....but it didn't happen and it wasn't my fault entirely. I had to get a TB test done as part of the pre-employment health screen this Monday. This is to screen for active or latent TB in yours truly.I am to be there personally again,on Friday, to get the results. Now, I certainly don't have active TB because I don't have any of the symptoms but coming from a country where TB is prevalant and having had exposure to quite a few TB patients because we had a two week rotation at the city's TB hospital, means there'd be a few of those bugs hiding somewhere in my body.I am probably going to test postive for latent TB and then will have to take prohylactic medication to eradicate the darn bug so that ; number 1 -It doesn't get activated and give me TB while I am working on the hospital floors and number 2 - I don't give the bug to any patients that I come in contact with. All this makes sense...now heres the scary bit...the prophylactic medicine is
NASTY. It has side effects....so?all meds have side effects you say? Sure...they all do but did you not notice the
NASTY? It can mess up your nerves and make you have peripheral neuropathy - pins and needles and numbness etc. Also, its not too kind to Mr. Liver and can cause drug induced hepatitis. Anyways, I am not
as worried and paranoid as I may come across to be about this issue because if I have to take it I have to take it. No shortcuts there.
So, I took care of that on Monday. Tuesday was an ok day. Wednesday just sucked generally because I wasn't feeling well and today I had to help my mother get some paperwork done and tutor this one kid I've been helping with reading and comprehension, so the day was pretty much shot.Tomorrow...its say hello to the TB test results and then a show up at my hospital's HR department for a background check. I am wondering how they'd go about the background check though ; as if filling out all those weird forms and giving out my social security information etc didn't cut it.
Now, back to where I started ; I can't get myself to study. What to do? I've actually known the answer to this worry of mine all along and I've conveniently been blocking it.I need to start going to the cold cold library...and make it my *gulp* home.No shortcuts here either.Adios world....heh...nah,it won't be that hard core...I'll probably keep blogging every now and then.
p.s: If someone wants to berate me over not studying and whining about it-Don't.You'll make me cry. :P
